Inspiration to have and to hold : 1

Ideas worth spreading.

After working most of this past weekend* I found myself whiling away the better part of Monday afternoon watching Ted Talks on my laptop with a big bowl of white popcorn beside me, and later a chilled glass of Chardonnay.
I revisited my favorites and laughed out loud and hung on words and filled up with tears as if I was seeing them all for the very first time.
On my run the next day, I got the inspiration to share them all with you. I love the opportunity to connect with you this way, so I hope you will drop me a note when you see something that moved you or inspired you or made you pause. I'll send them along to you one at a time so that you can savor them at your own pace, perhaps with your favorite snack + adult beverage. Read on for the first installment.
*I hosted the most recent Live Your TRUTH workshop at my home. It was awe-inspiring and eye opening for myself + Gavin + Kirem and those we spent the day with! Next time perhaps you can join us?

Your Elusive Creative Genius.

Liz Gilbert is one of my all time favorite authors. Like many other millions of people, Eat, Pray, Love left a lasting impression on me. I had the chance to meet her this past Fall, which resulted in my very first utterly starstruck experience, that I of course wrote about unabashedly here: The Fan. (Or the day I met Liz Gilbert and Ann Patchett). I don't know how I regained my composure to introduce myself to Ann Patchett a little later on, because she is way up there for me too, but somehow I managed not to blubber.
If you are a creative of any kind or most certainly if you are a writer, Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear is a must read. You will dog-ear pages, write in the margins, highlight and underline, I promise you. Then you will buy it for everyone you love who is a creative, too.
But for now, give yourself the gift of twenty minutes, hopefully uninterrupted, and enjoy Liz Gilbert's amazing Ted Talk: Your Elusive Creative Genius.

A long weekend awaits.

Cheers to you, dear friend! I wish you a very pleasant and downright enjoyable long Memorial Day weekend!

It took me some time to realize that I was on the wrong path. That the work I was doing for a living was no longer fulfilling me; actually was no longer working on any level. It seemed that satisfaction was no longer a given, despite a job well done. If I wanted to take pleasure in my work, genuine, heartwarming pleasure - I had to demand it. And then I had to create it.

It took me some time to realize that I was on the wrong path. That the work I was doing for a living was no longer fulfilling me; actually was no longer working on any level. Funny how the universe intervenes when you haven't been listening: Contracts are broken; new clients are nowhere to be found; the flow of money runs dry.
